Shashi Kumar, P.E., currently serves as the Director of Public Works and City Engineer for Missouri City, Texas and was appointed by City Council to serve in this role in February, 2017. The department has 43 employees and an annual operating budget of approximately $8.0 Million. In addition, the department manages capital improvement projects averaging $25-plus million, annually.
Kumar has over 25 years of municipal engineering and management experience. In his prior role, he also held various positions with City of Sugar Land for about 13-years. Prior to his public service, Kumar worked for major consulting firms in the Houston metropolitan area for about 9 years.
Kumar holds a master’s degree in civil engineering and also a master’s degree in business administration. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Texas, and a Certified Floodplain Manager.
