Mr. Pretorius is a structural engineer with over ten years of experience in highway bridge design. He spent five years working for Parsons in Orlando, Florida, and over five years with LJA Engineering in Austin, Texas. David has worked on a wide variety of bridge and structural projects throughout his career, both as a design engineer and a supervising engineer. He has experience in the design, plan production, construction phase, and peer review of bridge projects across the country. His design experience includes curved steel plate girders, curved post-tensioned spliced concrete U-girders, high-speed railways, prestressed concrete spans, highly eccentric bents, pedestrian trails, water crossings and accelerated bridge construction (ABC) methods. Mr. Pretorius has experience with curved post-tensioned spliced concrete U-girders from both a design and peer review perspective and has been involved in projects utilizing the girder type since 2013. He is currently the Group Leader for the Austin Structures team in Austin.
