About our Sessions

The Texas Infrastructure Report Card identifies “Lead with Vision” as the first step we can take to raise infrastructure grades in Texas. The speaker reflects on how to lead with vision based on lessons learned from a career as a consulting engineer, academic leader, and professional organization leader. Topics include career choices, why professional service such as with ASCE is so important as leadership training ground, the importance (and sometimes over-emphasis) of money in engineering and academic organizations, why the most important decisions and communication opportunities are often not about a person’s engineering skills, how to gain trust from the public, and how you can make a leadership difference.
