Roberto Rodriguez PE

Bio

Roberto Rodriguez, P.E., a native of Laredo, Texas, is a seasoned transportation professional with over two decades of experience in public infrastructure development. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from Texas A&M University–Kingsville in 1998, followed by a Master of Business Administration from Texas A&M International University in 2002.

Roberto began his career in the oil and gas energy sector before joining TxDOT in 1999. He was instrumental in launching the Laredo District’s engineering assistant rotation program, which remains active today. Over the next three years, he gained hands-on experience across multiple functional areas, including Traffic Operations, Maintenance, Area Office Construction, and Transportation, Planning, and Development (TP&D).

In 2003, Roberto transitioned to the District TP&D section, where he served as the consultant contracts engineer and team lead for project management. In this role, he oversaw the development of several key transportation projects that significantly impacted regional mobility.

In 2016, he was promoted to Advanced Planning Supervisor, where he managed critical TP&D functions, including schematic development, environmental planning and programming, MPO/RMA coordination, mapping and surveying, and utility coordination.

In 2022, Roberto was appointed Director of TP&D for the Laredo District. Under his leadership, the district has delivered its largest project lettings since its inception, reflecting his commitment to strategic planning, operational excellence, and infrastructure innovation.
