Kerr County Engineer
Kerr County Engineering Department
Bio
Charlie Hastings is a licensed professional engineer and certified floodplain manager with a BS and MS in Civil Engineering from Texas A&M University. He started his engineering profession running a survey crew for a small civil firm in College Station, Texas, where he feels he learned his most valuable lessons about poison ivy, engineering, and the people he would one day serve, from being in the field with the construction workers, citizens, and behind-the-scene government employees. He then went on to become the first ever City Engineer for Cedar Hill, Texas, working there for four years while raising a small family and earning his PE license. Having a heart for family and the great outdoors, he moved to the Texas Hill Country in Kerrville, Texas where he served as the Kerrville City Engineer and Public Works Director for over 12 years. While at Kerrville his family grew to six children, all of whom have been homeschooled by his wife, four of which have graduated from Texas A&M. Charlie has now been the Kerr County Engineer and Floodplain Administrator for over eleven years, also located in Kerrville, TX. Through the years he has enjoyed working with his own children and others by coaching various sports, robotics, leading the youth worship team, actively serving the local 4H club, and his favorite past time was voice broadcasting play-by-play action for his daughter’s volleyball team.
