Bio
Megan Dutton, P.E. is the Director of Advance Project Development for TxDOT’s Austin District, where she leads schematic design, environmental coordination, local government project development, and delivery teams.
Megan began her TxDOT career in 2007 as a Design Division intern while pursuing her B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin, graduating in 2009. She spent a year with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in San Antonio, focusing on QA/QC for vertical construction at Fort Sam Houston.
In 2010, Megan joined the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, where she worked in the Dam Safety Program, inspecting dams and reviewing hydrologic and hydraulic studies and breach analyses. Her diverse experience also includes roles as a water resources consultant, in AUS Central Design, and in TxDOT’s Alternative Delivery Division.
In 2022, she rejoined the Austin District as part of the Advance Project Development (APD) schematic team, managing consultant contracts and work authorizations for schematic and NEPA projects, feasibility studies, and corridor studies. Her leadership and technical insight led to her promotion to her current role in August 2024.
Megan brings a well-rounded background in project development, water resources, and stakeholder coordination, making her a key contributor to delivering impactful and innovative transportation solutions across Central Texas.
