Haley M. Smith PE

Staff Civil Engineer
Burns & McDonnell

After graduating from Purdue University in May 2018, Haley joined the Transportation Global Practice at Burns & McDonnell. Over the course of her career, Haley has had the pleasure of working on roadway projects in seven states: Texas, Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Nebraska. She has generated expertise in safety analytics and roundabout design and has served as Roadway Task Lead on municipal, DOT, and private sector projects.

Her love of roundabouts began during her internship days in the Midwest where she worked on projects in Carmel, Indiana, also known as the Roundabout Capital of the World, and she hopes to see the continued trend of roundabouts in Texas. Haley is also an MBA candidate focusing on Strategic Management at the G. Brint Ryan College of Business at the University of North Texas.

Aside from her technical roles, Haley is passionate about Diversity, Equity & Inclusion and was elected to Burns & McDonnell’s Network of Women (NOW) Executive Board in 2021, where she currently serves as the Executive Communications Chair, overseeing over 1,200 NOW members globally. Outside of work, Haley serves on the DFW Women in Transportation (WTS) Leadership Team as the Lattes & Leaderships Program Chair, where she connects WTS members with prominent women making a difference in the transportation industry in Texas.
