Haley M. Smith, PE, Civil Engineer at Burns & McDonnell, will present on the application of roundabouts as a key component of ICE methodology. In the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, rapid development and the evolution of new traffic patterns has resulted in congestion and both perceived and data-supported safety concerns. Roundabouts serve as a tool to address these issues. Burns & McDonnell will present a series of high-level topics – successful elements, design challenges, and benefits — which agencies and engineers can use to apply to intersection improvement projects. Examples of both local roundabouts and projects around the country designed by the Burns & McDonnell transportation team will be presented and discussed.
