About our Sessions

New Design Guidelines in Geo-engineering Practice

Guidelines are presented for difficult geotechnical problems including walls retaining shrink swell soils, uplift loads on drilled shafts in shrink swell soils, overlapping effect of closely spaced spread footings, friction capacity of augercast piles, short term vs long term bearing capacity in clays, settlement of large loaded areas on clays. These research findings are the results of the Consortium for Education and Research in Geo-Engineering Practice or CERGEP which is a group of geotechnical companies funding research on practical problems and developing practical solutions. The executive summaries for the guidelines mentioned above are found on line at https://cergep.engr.tamu.edu/
