Bio
Richie Hernandez, CFM, currently serves as State NFIP Coordinator and Community Assistance Program (CAP) Manager with the Texas Water Development Board. Richie has over 20 years’ experience in state, county and local program management, including many years in the floodplain management sector. Mr. Hernandez graduated from the University of Texas at El Paso, the city he has remained in for most of his professional career.
Kate de Gennaro is a Flood Outreach Specialist with the Texas Water Development Board, providing technical support and training on floodplain management/flood mitigation for communities throughout Texas. She also serves as a liaison between federal and local governments by conducting reviews of local floodplain management programs and assisting with compliance with the National Flood Insurance Program. Before this, Kate was a Planning Specialist with Texas Sea Grant for several years, focusing on the subject areas of Resilient Communities & Economies and Healthy Coastal Ecosystems. She collaborated with others on a floodplain management plan, a long-term recovery plan, and The Texas Homeowners Handbook to Prepare for Coastal Natural Hazards.
